When something goes wrong with your teeth or gums, it’s reassuring to know you have an experienced, knowledgeable dentist available to help. Dr. William Munn will work tirelessly to rehabilitate your smile so you can chew, speak and smile with confidence. He offers a range of restorative dental solutions to remedy anything that affects the form or function of your teeth and their supporting structures.
Invisalign
Crooked or poorly aligned teeth impact more than just the beauty of your smile. They can also put your oral health and dental function at risk of serious problems. But for many adults, the idea of wearing metal braces for a year or more to correct tooth alignment issues is entirely unappealing.
Invisalign is a discreet, comfortable alternative to conventional metal braces. The removable Invisalign aligners put gentle pressure on the crooked or misaligned teeth to shift them into the ideal position. Some patients are able to achieve the desired results in as little as six months.
Bridges
A dental bridge fills the space left by a missing or extracted tooth. Bridges are comprised of artificial teeth called pontics, held in place by support from the adjacent teeth. With traditional or cantilever bridges, the teeth on one or both sides of the gap are crowned, and the pontic fits into the gap. With a Maryland-bonded bridge, a metal or ceramic framework (resembling wings) fits onto the backs of the teeth on either side of the gap, with the pontic fitting snugly into the gap. A well-fitting bridge is able to withstand the forces of biting and chewing just as well as a normal, healthy tooth can.
Root Canal
Sometimes a tooth becomes so badly infected that the infection reaches the sensitive tissue (called dental “pulp”) inside the tooth’s root canals. If this happens, the root canals need to be cleaned, disinfected and filled with a substance called gutta percha. Then, the tooth is covered with a crown to protect it from further problems. This process is known as root canal therapy.
Dentures
Modern dentures are slimmer, lighter and more comfortable than the prosthetics of yesteryear. Partial dentures replace clusters of missing teeth and complete dentures replace all of the teeth in the upper and/or lower jaw. When fitted by our experienced dentist, dentures are snug enough to support complete chewing and biting function.
Dental Implants
Dentures are not the only reliable tooth replacement solution. If you have one or more missing teeth, you may choose to replace them with dental implants. Unlike dentures, which rest on top of the gums, dental implants are secured to the underlying jawbone with titanium posts or screws. The chewing forces on the posts or screws help to keep the jawbone robust and healthy.
Implants can also be used to retain and support dental bridges and dentures for an enhanced fit and feel.
